Encrypt the data on an Android tablet
« on: October 18, 2014, 01:51:37 AM »
Secure the data using encryption on an Android tablet

Secure the sensitive data on an Android tablet by using the Data Encryption option.

Why would you want to encrypt the data on an Android tablet?  If your Android tablet contains data that you do not want anyone else to see, then data encryption is your answer.  If you loose your tablet, or if someone is playing a game on the tablet and decides to look around on it, then you need to encrypt the data.

How do you encrypt the data?
  • Go to Settings
  • Look for the Security menu item and touch it
  • Find the Encryption heading and touch Encrypt device under it
  • You will need to select a security option that includes a password or pin
  • Be sure the battery is fully charged, and plug the tablet into a power source before starting
  • The encryption process will take an hour or so, so set the tablet down.
  • Each time you open the tablet, you will need to enter the password or pin that you selected.
  • Ensure you have a Google account set up on the tablet so in case you forget the password, you can go to your Google account and reset it.
