Transfer files from Phone to Tablet

You can easily transfer files from phone to tablet using a few different methods. Using these methods, you can transfer files:

  • From Android phone to Android tablet
  • From Android phone to Android phone
  • From Android tablet to Android tablet
  • From Android tablet to Android phone

Transfer Files Method 1: Use an App to connect the two devices

  1. Both phones must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network in order for them to communicate with each other.
  2. If you have purchased a new phone and you want to transfer the content of the old phone to the new one:
    1. If you have Samsung phones, then you can use the Samsung Smart Switch app which will transfer all your contacts, photos, music, messages, etc. from your old phone to the new phone.
    2. Many new Samsung phones come with the Smart Switch app already installed.  But if it isn’t already installed, then connect to the Google Playstore and download it.
  3. There are other apps on Playstore that accomplish the same thing such as Smart Transfer, or Direct Transfer, etc.  These are free apps and will work well for you.

Transfer Files Method 2: Connect the devices directly using Bluetooth

Turn on Bluetooth on both devices and set both devices to be discovered.  When you scan with one, then you can connect the devices. How to connect with Bluetooth?

      1. Step 1: First you must Pair the two devices using Bluetooth.  Your devices stay paired until you unpair them.
        1. Option 1: To turn on the Bluetooth, Open  Settings, touch on Connections, turn on Bluetooth.
        2. Option 2: Swipe down from the top of the screen. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on. Touch and hold Bluetooth to see available accessories to connect to.
      2. To transfer a file, open your File Manager app, find the file, touch and hold on the file name.  You’ll see an options menu open showing what you can do with the file. One of the options is to share the file, touch on the Share Icon  Share an Android file, then select Bluetooth, then select the device you want to share to.

Transfer Files Method 3: Use Android Beam or Nearby Share (NFC)

You can use Android Beam or Near Field Communication (NFC – Nearby Share) to transfer files.

  1. First, the NFC or Nearby Share or Android Beam (they are all the same, just different names) option must be turned on in both devices.
    1. Open Settings
    2. Touch Connections
    3. Slide the button to the on position for NFC, Nearby Share or Android Beam.
  2. Open the file you want to share, touch on the share icon, touch NFC, Nearby Share or  Android Beam. Your phone will start searching for other devices nearby.  When it finds another device, it will show it for you to select it.
